The natural boundaries of the place where the Lodge is located, are Vargas
river, Jaramillo river and lake Vargas, whereby our embarkations are Drift
boats of the McKenzie type, highly safe pontoons and motor boats
This way, we do the fishing and the Birding in comfortable boats with
international level safety standards.
Our land transportation vehicles are 4 x 4 pick-ups, very comfortable
and safe.

The Lodge has fishing rods and spare and rental
accessories should they be needed.
Below you will find a list with our suggestions for the
selection of the most adequate fishing equipment for our zone. Remember
to bring your cameras, the Lodge has a computer to download your images
daily, which at the end of your stay, will be given to you in a C.D. with
all the pictures taken by you and your guide, so that you have a testimony
in images of this unforgettable adventure.
Due to the location of the Lodge, you must be as auto-sufficient as possible
in what refers to fishing array, although the Lodge has spare equipment
available in case of breakages and emergencies.

Rods: We suggest the following combination:
81/2 to 9 foott numbers 5 or 6 for dry fly and nymphs. (farios Trout)
9 to 91/2 foot, numbers 7 to 9/10 for streamers (Salmon).
Reels: Bring at least 2 with floating lines and one extra spool for each
one of the reels with a sinking line or Sink Tip line. Trout reels with
smooth and strong drag, preferably with exposed rim for palming. They
must have at least 100 yards of 20 lbs backing capacity each one of the
rods and spools. Leaders: Leaders from 4 to 12 feet long and tippet material
are extremely important.
Our fish are very strong and fast, and shall make their
best efforts to break loose, seeking all their resources, between logs,
weeds, rocks and rapid streams.
Your tippet material must be resistant to abrasion and have the maximum
resistance for its diameter, we suggest those manufactured with fluorocarbonate.
For use with wet fly and streamers we recommend from 4 to 71/2 foot with
resistances from 2X to 3X. For big dry flies and nymphs, we recommend
leaders from 71/2 to 10 foot with resistances from 3X up to 4X. Finally,
for fishing with small dry flies, we recommend leaders from 10 foot up
with resistance of 5X to 6X. In the case of salmons, your guide will supply
the adequate leaders and tippet to support the strength of these specimens.
Wading equipment: The best waders to develop this fishing comfortably
are Gore-Tex,
However, for the months of March and April, the neoprene wading trousers
might be a good idea. The shoe must have the felt sole in good conditions,
shoes with studs are not allowed.
A comfortable life jacket is a fundamental part of this
equipment.
Clothing: Do not worry about colours, use those that you have always liked.
In Patagonia there are violent temperature and weather changes, whereby
the clothing must be in accordance with this kind of conditions. Capilene
type underwear and fleece type anoraks are ideal for this climate. It
is basic to have a good quality jacket for the rain and adequate gloves.
Accessories: Pliers, forceps, hook sharpener, tool for knots, small lantern,
silicone for flies, reel protector, insect repellent, lines cleaner, polarizad
eyeglasses, high factor sun block lotion, hat and any other equipment
and accessory that you may consider necessary.
Flies for Trout
In the case of salmons we recommend the classic ones for salmon, prefer
those of white and blue coloring, others that have shown excellent results
shall be supplied by our guides.
